The things that doesn't make sense

Hey blog! It's been a while since I posted something.

Well I guess my life really isn't colorful and it is more blackish. Speaking of black. I know this person who's really short and really really black both in skin color and in the heart. I know the header says things that doesn't make sense but I guess some things DO make sense.Well, there's this famous line...

"You were nothing but a liar... a user and i hope you burn in hell for it."

Hope you like it.

Girls Are Players!

Why am I surrounded by girls that are players? The types that play with you heart? I mean, I've been writing about AlphaK by now. I guess I should have learned that she can't be trusted and that she's a leech. I was and still am a fool. I guess sometimes fate just loves messing with me. I mean, all of my previous girlfriends cheated on me. Shouldn't it be the other way around? I mean, I guess, it's better that AlphaK hurts than what I am feeling right now. I waited for you for nothing. You just lied and used me. You belong with Bravura.

Choices

This is what you did. I'll forgive but I'll never forget.

On November 28, a close friend of mine, made a choice. I call her under the codename of AlphaK. Well, AlphaK, pretty much broke my world and I've lost my trust. You chose to side with Bravura. I can't even begin to describe the hurt and betrayal I am feeling. I've always been there to help you in your time of need. I've done my best to assist you every time. It looks like it never really mattered you just needed a slave and a fool at your beck's call. You've made your choice and live with it. I just hope that when you need them, they'll be there to support you.

You've taken away my sun but I'll always have hope. Life may not get better but I will survive this. The question is, will you survive? You chose your gay friend over someone who's helped you for such a long time. I wonder, if he'll help you when you really need it. Remember, there's a reason why he's gay. You'll find and experience it soon enough. The 28th of November is when you all died for me. Your downfall and failure will be music to my ears. I've lived in the darkness and I'll survive this

"Hope saves. Fear kills." - Karen Marie Moning

I've seen hope and she'll save me. I won't fall as easily as you! Besides, I'm already dead. You've killed me and I'm just a walking corpse or a zombie if you would prefer.

Alive!

I can't believe it's been months since I last posted here! I really should change the theme of the blog. LOL!I'm really glad that my blog isn't very famous. I rarely get any visitors which is good for this type of post!

Anyways, this post is me ranting about a certain person. Let's hide this person under the codename of AlphaK. To put it simply, AlphaK is a leech. You know those persons that keep on demanding things and they expect that you drop everything for them. Well, AlphaK is such a controlling b*tch that he/she asked me not to talk to a specific person. I did a similar request and AlphaK flat out refused me. AlphaK pretty much showed me how little of value I am. I was so mad that I literally saw red on my eyes and I wanted to kill AlphaK.

Someday, AlphaK, I hope that you suffer for everything. I hope that you go lower and lower until you are six feet under. The lower the better. I'll be so happy when that happens. I really really hate you! I'll never help you! Whatever happens and whatever tragedy befalls you... I'll watch them happily.

I'll never forget this day! Thanks to this blog. I'll always have a place to rant about you!

Book Review: The Rithmatist By Brandon Sanderson

From Goodreads

Book Jacket:

More than anything, Joel wants to be a Rithmatist. Chosen by the Master in a mysterious inception ceremony, Rithmatists have the power to infuse life into two-dimensional figures known as Chalklings. Rithmatists are humanity’s only defense against the Wild Chalklings — merciless creatures that leave mangled corpses in their wake. Having nearly overrun the territory of Nebrask, the Wild Chalklings now threaten all of the American Isles.

As the son of a lowly chalkmaker at Armedius Academy, Joel can only watch as Rithmatist students study the magical art that he would do anything to practice. Then students start disappearing — kidnapped from their rooms at night, leaving trails of blood. Assigned to help the professor who is investigating the crimes, Joel and his friend Melody find themselves on the trail of an unexpected discovery — one that will change Rithmatics — and their world — forever.

Bestselling author Brandon Sanderson brings his unique brand of epic storytelling to the teen audience with an engrossing tale of danger and suspense—the first of a series. With his trademark skills in world-building, Sanderson has created a magic system that is so inventive and detailed that that readers who appreciate games of strategy and tactics just may want to bring Rithmatics to life in our world.

Review:

There are novels and there are SANDERSON novels. If you haven’t read any Sanderson books, I suggest that you stop reading and pick a copy ASAP. You won’t ever be disappointed. Sanderson can write and he does it so well that you’ll stay up all night reading. This is one author whose work I’ll pick up without any hesitation.

The Rithmatist is about a boy named Joel who is obsessed with the art of Rithmatics. Rithmatics is the art of giving chalk lines and drawings, life and power. Think of Arithmetic, Geometry, Trigonometry and Magic all combined into one.  It has special rules and guidelines to be followed or it won’t work just like Math. :P This made the magic system unique but understandable.

Unfortunately for Joel, he doesn’t pass the required trial to become one. However, this doesn’t stop him from learning all the theories. This is one of the things I loved about Joel. Even though, he knows that it’s impossible for him to be a Rithmatists, he is still passionate about Rithmatics. It is this passion that made him so loveable.  I’m pretty sure we’ve all met Joel at school. Those guys that pass everything without studying and ones that has taken the blessings in life for granted.  This part of him annoyed me at first but as the story moves on he gradually changes and grows when he meets Melody.

The other character that brings life to the story is Melody. In simple terms, she’s the exact opposite of Joel. She was given the gift of Rithmatics but isn’t very good at it. All she wants to do with her gift is to draw her Unicorns and other noble (girlish) creatures which Joel notes is a waste and an insult to his masculinity. The way Joel and Melody interacted with each other is what really hooked me to this book.  You could easily see the barrier between Joel and Melody slowly crumble replaced by friendship and trust they develop throughout the novel.  This made them feel so real and made reading the book so much fun.

At the heart of it, the thing you really look forward to in a Sanderson book is either the world building or the unique magic system. And in both aspects, I’m happy to say that he doesn’t disappoint. He gave me a world that I would love to live in and a magic I would really love to practice. The Rithmatist happens in a world where the Koreans conquered most of Europe and the United States is an Archipelago. By doing this, he made the world instantly relatable and yet new enough to be interesting.  In this world, magic often used than technology and I love the comparison with our current situation. You could see the hard work for research, and how he made his work believable (though it is fiction). The magic system is another level as well. You could really see that this is Sanderson’s specialty. As I said before, Rithmatics is the art of giving chalk lines and drawings life and power.  It is a combination of Arithmetic, Geometry, Trigonometry and Magic. This magic system is just so original that I loved it. The diagrams, the geometry, the offenses and defenses, and of course the marvelous “chalking” (unicorns and noble creatures). The way he set up the rules and still showing us the endless possibilities that came with it just sucked me into the story.

The only bad thing I can say about this book is that it is does not read and write like a MG novel. It is more like an adult novel with MG characters. In the end, this novel made me so happy and I can’t wait for the next book to come.

Book Review: Cinder By Marissa Meyer

Photo from Goodreads

Book Jacket:

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl.

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

REVIEW:

What a lovely surprise this book is. When I saw this book, all I thought was just another fairy tale retelling so I had very low expectations coming in. I was right and then I was wrong. This book is set in the future with some bits of Sci-Fi. After reading it, I was happy to have been wrong.
The book was just so FUN and it was so easy to read. The setting, the characters and the not so hidden jabs at the Cinderella fairy tale we all knew as a kid… I loved them all and it hooked me right from the first page.
The fairy tale setting has been overly done and yet, Meyer delivers them in such a way that stays true to the story but never in the way that you expect it. The slippers became a cyborg foot; her pumpkin coach is well a vintage pumpkin, and the way she makes her entrance at the ball… just priceless. This book gave the story a unique perspective that made it such an entertaining read. Something I didn’t expect from a fairy tale retelling.
As for Cinder, our main character, she’s such a breath of fresh air. This is a girl not waiting or even looking for a prince charming. All she wants is to earn enough money to buy her own freedom to escape from her stepmother. I loved how she never complained when the odds were against her and how she made use of every misfortune into her advantage. She never let the prejudice get to her and be all woe is me which made her such an irresistible leading lady. My only complaint was the predictability of the story and the late reveal.
In the end, this book made me glad and I'll be following Ms. Marissa Meyer's work in the future.

Pilot Post

Sounds just like a new TV show. This will be the first blog that I'll run by myself. Alone. I'll be writing reviews, random happenings and rants. I'll be editing this blog in the coming days so expect lots of changes here.

Why start a blog? I needed to blow some steam off from work and this seemed like the perfect way to do it. I also needed to store my reviews in an organized manner so here it is. Expect to have reviews in pairs since I usually read books in pairs. :) One for work and one at home.

I've been reading books since I was in primary school so expect lots of them. I'm totally honest with my reviews and expect criticisms and serious nitpicking. I read everything but I usually read contemporary YA/Adult and High Fantasy.

Thanks for reading my Pilot. :)

Just needed to put a post for good luck. :)
If anyone can help me with layouts, please send me an email.
