REVIEW:

What a lovely surprise this book is. When I saw this book, all I thought was just another fairy tale retelling so I had very low expectations coming in. I was right and then I was wrong. This book is set in the future with some bits of Sci-Fi. After reading it, I was happy to have been wrong.
The book was just so FUN and it was so easy to read. The setting, the characters and the not so hidden jabs at the Cinderella fairy tale we all knew as a kid… I loved them all and it hooked me right from the first page.
The fairy tale setting has been overly done and yet, Meyer delivers them in such a way that stays true to the story but never in the way that you expect it. The slippers became a cyborg foot; her pumpkin coach is well a vintage pumpkin, and the way she makes her entrance at the ball… just priceless. This book gave the story a unique perspective that made it such an entertaining read. Something I didn’t expect from a fairy tale retelling.
As for Cinder, our main character, she’s such a breath of fresh air. This is a girl not waiting or even looking for a prince charming. All she wants is to earn enough money to buy her own freedom to escape from her stepmother. I loved how she never complained when the odds were against her and how she made use of every misfortune into her advantage. She never let the prejudice get to her and be all woe is me which made her such an irresistible leading lady. My only complaint was the predictability of the story and the late reveal.
In the end, this book made me glad and I'll be following Ms. Marissa Meyer's work in the future.

Pilot Post

Sounds just like a new TV show. This will be the first blog that I'll run by myself. Alone. I'll be writing reviews, random happenings and rants. I'll be editing this blog in the coming days so expect lots of changes here.

Why start a blog? I needed to blow some steam off from work and this seemed like the perfect way to do it. I also needed to store my reviews in an organized manner so here it is. Expect to have reviews in pairs since I usually read books in pairs. :) One for work and one at home.

I've been reading books since I was in primary school so expect lots of them. I'm totally honest with my reviews and expect criticisms and serious nitpicking. I read everything but I usually read contemporary YA/Adult and High Fantasy.

Thanks for reading my Pilot. :)

Just needed to put a post for good luck. :)
If anyone can help me with layouts, please send me an email.
